The Mental Health Research (MHR) Incubator is hiring! We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to help us with the running of our various programmes (including events) and manage our budget.

This role will manage a number of professional development programmes for mental health and addiction researchers across the UK as part of the Mental Health Research Incubator team. The aim of the Mental Health Research Incubator is to build capacity in mental health and addiction research. Since 2022, we have developed a number of professional development programmes and activities such as writing retreats, internships and seed funding. The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a number of career development programmes including our well-regarded GROW programme.

The GROW programme is a highly competitive professional development programme for early career researchers. It includes a 2 night residential, 1 to 1 coaching and a large national alumni event. The post holder will have experience and skills in designing and delivering training, facilitating engaging meetings and events and a strong interest in supporting the professional development of mental health and addiction researchers. This role will also project manage a range of other activities such as our annual alumni conference, and a seed funding scheme. They will manage the relationship with suppliers such as professional coaching and facilitation suppliers.

The post holder will also manage the budget for the Mental Health Research Incubator and work with the senior academic lead to secure ongoing funding for Incubator programmes.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
  • High level of facilitation and training skills with ability to design and deliver effective and engaging
    workshops and meetings.
  • Proven project management experience through the full lifecycle.
  • Demonstrable experience of budget monitoring and financial management.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems proactively, both independently and in collaboration with
    others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of
    stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities.
  • High level of organisational, decision-making skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative and think creatively to overcome challenges, working both independently and
    part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK to deliver events including residential events requiring overnight stays
