YOUR CAREER JOURNEY & EXPERIENCE

Our career case studies often work best when you identify a particular theme that you feel fits you – there are examples in previous case studies (for example, switching careers, impostor syndrome, varied backgrounds, etc.) or it might be that you have a different angle on it to share. Some questions that might help you to structure your journey: What led you to be interested in your area of research? How did you get started with it? What inspires you to continue in this area? What are the challenges you are facing now do you think? Do you have any key advice for others looking to follow a similar path?
A short title that summarises your career and journey so far.
A brief description of your background before getting into research.
An overview of your journey since starting in research.
List the awards / grants used to fund your work
This can be anything you think your profession has contributed positively to the mental health field, for example; a particular approach, a theory, a new kind of treatment or methodology, a particular finding, etc.
Please share some tips that others considering getting into research may find useful. It can help to think about the following questions: What do you wish you’d known when starting your research journey? What kind of skills and experience from your background have been most useful in your current role? Are there any specific differences in your area of research that people should be aware of? How would you recommend people get started working in your area of research?
