Calling all registered health and care professionals! The NIHR recently launched a funding call specifically to help you prepare for a research grant application on any of NIHR’s funding streams. This is a great opportunity for anyone working on the front line of delivery who wants to develop a research component to your career by preparing a funding application.
NIHR is providing this funding as they recognise that the proportion of health and care professionals who are intrinsically involved in research is low, with less than 0.1% of nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals working in research.
This funding call will aim to address that by providing up to £150,000 over up to 12 months to support development of future funding or grant applications to any of the NIHR research programmes.
The professions this funding is aimed at are:
- Nurses (including nurses that work in social care)
- Midwives
- Pharmacists
- Healthcare scientists
- Allied Health Professions (as specified by NHS England)
Early to midcareer applicants are strongly encouraged to apply, and the NIHR has a broad definition of who they see as fulfilling this definition:
- Individuals who have recently been, or are about to be awarded a PhD, or who have equivalent demonstrable years of research knowledge and experience, and are a registered professional within one of the target Health and Care Professionals groups (as listed above)
and/or
- Individuals who have not yet been the chief investigator for a substantial award (£100,000+)
If you are interested in applying but want more information or have questions, there is a webinar on Wednesday 20 March 10:00-11:00. Email crossprogramme@nihr.ac.uk to register.
The deadline for applications is 1300 27 September
