Funding for addiction services and research groups
no comments

Do you work in an addiction service? Or are you an academic researcher of addiction? The MHR Incubator is offering two distinct types of funded placement opportunities for addiction service providers and university research groups to host researchers. Through our placement and internship programmes, we’re seeking to enable you to ask and answer the right questions to improve addiction services and outcomes for people with addiction.

Addiction services: apply for funding to host a PhD or postdoctoral researcher

3rd sector, local authority and NHS organisations who are offering services for people with addictions are invited to apply for funding to host an experienced researcher to work on a project, the focus of which is determined by you and your organisation’s priorities.

We recognise that 3rd and public sector organisations are delivering many of the services for people with addictions and the evidence base to guide prevention and treatment is currently very limited. We are offering funding for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to undertake 12-week placements (or part time equivalent) to support work on your organisation’s priorities.

Addiction research groups: apply for funding to host an intern

Could you benefit from additional research capacity in your group? Could your research group host a recent graduate to work in an assistant level role to support your research projects?

Apply for funding to host an intern to work with you for a 12-week FTE internship, or part-time over a longer period. The internship could take place remotely or in person.

Given the currently limited evidence base to guide prevention and treatment for addiction, the work of addiction research groups is therefore very important, and this opportunity is part of our support to boost research groups’ capacity to ask and answer questions that could improve health outcomes in the context of addiction.
