Find a mentor
Find a role model – someone who is pursuing research and who seems approachable. Ask them how they managed it and ask if they will give you a bit of help, guidance, mentorship. They can support you and act as a sounding board for your ideas which is invaluable for all stages of your career in research.
"Find a mentor and get some direction on where you are going."
- Martin Webber, Professor of Social Work
“Sometimes having a senior mentor can help you with managers who might otherwise put some blocks in your way. There’s nothing like having a bit of senior cover sometimes.”
– Eileen Kaner, Professor of Applied Behavioural Science
