This retreat is designed to support people to make progress on an application for a fellowship in applied mental health research.
We expect that participants on this retreat will likely be applying for fellowships funded by the NIHR, Wellcome Trust, UK Research Councils, or charities which fund fellowships in applied mental health research.

No other information about you or your fellowship application will be shared beyond the MHR Incubator team and invited reviewers who review your application.

Essential criteria

  • Working in any research, professional or clinical role relevant to mental health 
  • Based in the UK and employed in a UK institution 
  • Planning a doctoral or postdoctoral project-based fellowship application in mental health or addiction* 
  • Able to demonstrate an evidence gap in your proposed project area, having done some sort of literature review** 
  • Ready to refine your ideas, and get feedback 
  • Ready to think deeply on your research project design and methodology 
  • Would welcome guidance and support from RSS experts 

* This retreat is not suitable for you if you are applying for a training/career development fellowship with no associated research project. 

** We can only accept candidates on this retreat for which there is a clear rationale/need for research in this area. Relevant evidence could be literature search, scoping review
